Tonight we're having some family over to our house for a new year's eve party. Mr. Jansson is smoking bbq outside and I just finished up making some black eyed pea dip and cheese straws. I might have tried a cheese straw (or three) and they are delish (if I do say so myself)! In case you're in need of an appetizer for tonight, or later next year, I thought I'd share.
Ingredients:
1 stick of butter (at room temperature)
2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese (at room temperature)
1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp worcestershire sauceDirections:
Put all of the ingredients into a food processor and mix until dough is formed. Remove the dough and wrap it in plastic wrap before refrigerating for an hour or so. Preheat your oven to 300 degrees. Roll dough out on a lightly floured surface into 1/4 inch thickness. Place strips onto a lightly greased cookie sheet or a silpat. Bake for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove and transfer cheese straws to racks to cool.I hope you enjoy and happy new year!
